Algebra class rules

NOTEBOOK – You will need a notebook (preferably with a graph paper) and/or a binder for your worksheets.  You may choose a style you like.  The only requirement is that your algebra notebook and/or algebra section in your binder be kept in order and up to date.
TEXTBOOK – You take your textbook home and leave it home.  You will use it for your homework assignments.
TESTS – Tests will be given at the end of each major topic (approximately every 2-3 weeks).  Quizzes will be given once or twice a week.
PROJECTS – Short-term projects will be given every report period.
HOMEWORK – All homework assignments should be done on time.  Please use given homework guidelines.
CALCULATORS – I recommend using TI-83 or TI-84 (regular, plus, or silver edition).  These calculators are allowed on all exams including SAT, PSAT, AP, and IB.  If you continue your studies in college, these devices will be useful for all your math and science courses.
Requirements
1. You will be assigned a seat and cannot change it without my permission.  If you have vision or hearing problems, you should let me know as soon as possible.
2. You have to have writing utensils in class.  Either pen or pencil is fine.  Please do not write in bright colors, like red, bright green, pink, although colors may be helpful on graphs.
3. No eating or chewing gum allowed in the classroom.
4. Do not use any electronic devices, except calculators.
5. You cannot use your cell phone calculators.
6. Do not wear hats while in the classroom.
7. Attendance is very important.  If you must miss school, you are responsible for all missed work.  Meet me in the Gifted Support Office, room 203, to make up the work you missed.
8. If you miss a test, you must make it up within one week of your return to school.  See me to arrange time.  Test may not be taken during a regular class.
9. Should you have a question, see me in room 203 during advisory (ask me in advance to send your advisor a call slip for you), your lunch, or after school.  You can also submit your question online (on my web page press “Help” button).  Do not leave any question unanswered.
