Dear Parent/Guardian:
Philadelphia continues to face an epidemic of sexually transmitted disease (STDs) among its teenagers. The Philadelphia Department of Public Health and the School District of Philadelphia have worked together to offer free, voluntary and confidential testing and treatment in School District high schools for Gonorrhea and Chlamydia, two of the most common infectious diseases among teenagers.

PSSA
The PSSA Writing Test has three sections:  Multiple Choice, Essay 1, and Essay 2.
Each testing section is 60 consecutive minutes long.  Advisory will be extended to accomadate testing.  On Monday February 11, Tuesday February 12, and Wednesday February 13 advisory will start at 8:00 a.m. and conclude at 9:14 a.m.
Schedule Changes
On January 16, 2008, the School Reform Commission amended Resolution SRC-1 to reflect a change in the 2007-2008 school district calendar. Please note the following revisions below:

Tuesday, May 20, 2008, is no longer a professional development day. It has been changed to a full school day for all students and staff.

Tuesday, April 22, 2008, is now a professional development day -- staff only. Students will not be in attendance.

Home and School
All parents and guardians are invited to our January Home and School Association, Wednesday, January 9 at 7:30 pm in the Spain Conference Center. Sergeant Thomas Gleeson of the Philadelphia Police Department Narcotics Division will present the HEADS UP program for drug prevention.
We will also be holding elections for the 270 Class Representative to the Executive Board.

Attention Parents of Seniors:
Thursday, December 13th will be our annual financial aid night from
7:00 to 8:30 PM in the Central High School Auditorium. Please come
and hear Cheryl Browning, Regional Director of the Pennsylvania
Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) answer ALL of your
financial aid questions. Students are also encouraged to attend.
Central High School Winter Concert
The Central High School Orchestra and Choir will be performing on
December 4, 2007 at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Communion located
at 2110 Chestnut Street. The concert begins at 7:00 p.m.. Tickets
can be purchased at the door. Student admission is $5 and adult
admission is $10. Snacks will be available for purchase. Come and
enjoy the performance of our outstanding young musicians!
The Trolly Car Diner
20% of all meals will be donated to the 268 Class Fund, to reduce the cost of bus fare for the Ski Trip.

A SPECIAL COUPON MUST BE PRESENTED in order for 268 to get money. Coupons will be distributed during advisory. Take more than one if you will be eating at the Trolley Car Diner often. Also, please bring your friends, neighbors and family if they are near the diner.

SPECIAL THANKS to Mrs. Tamar Magdovitz (268's Home and School representative and mother of Zach Magdovitz)  Without their help, 268 would only have received 10%.

267 Commencement
267 Commencement has been changed from Monday June 16th to Wednesday
June 18th. It will still be held at 10:00 AM at the Kimmel Center.
The change of date was necessary to comply with the School District
of Philadelphia's mandated graduation dates.
Home and School Meeting
All parents are invited to our general membership meeting on Wednesday, November 14 at 7:30 in the Spain Conference Center. We will be accepting nominations for the 270 Class Representative for the Executive Board. Come show your support, get involved, and meet other parents!
